IMPORTANT MESSAGE for ReallyTheBlues.com fans

Will ReallytheBlue.com survive into 2015?

Really the Blues's sponsor Jazz on the Tube needs a little help from some friends...

Over the last year, our modest income from ads is down 32% and out expenses are up 37%

We're not daunted and there's still a lot more we want to add to the site, but...

Between hosting, e-mail management, extra bandwidth charges, data storage costs, research and editorial, clerical, programming and customer service, our monthly nut comes to $1,500 a month or nearly $18,000 a year.

The ads we run help, but don't cover the entire cost so if you're inspired and able, we're appreciative of any help you can send out way - as we are of all your support.

Six-fingered Slide

Hound Dog Taylor and the Houserockers perform "Wild About You Baby," featuring Little Walter on harmonica back in 1967.

Hound Dog Taylor was known for his electric slide guitar roughly styled after that of Elmore James, his cheap Japanese Teisco guitars, and his raucous boogie beats. He was also famed among guitar players for having six fingers on his left hand.

After hearing Taylor with his band, the HouseRockers in 1970 featuring Brewer Phillips on second guitar, and Ted Harvey on drums at Florence's Lounge on Chicago's South Side Bruce Iglauer, a shipping clerk at the time for Delmark Records, tried to get him signed by his employer. Having no success getting Delmark to sign Taylor, Iglauer formed a small record label with a $2500 inheritance and recorded Taylor's debut album "Hound Dog Taylor and the HouseRockers" on his fledgling Alligator Records in 1971.
